Frequently asked questions

Quick answers — written by humans, not a chatbot.

Does this include the speaking tasks?

Yes. AP Japanese has four free-response tasks, two writing and two speaking, each scored out of 6. Enter all four so the free-response half reflects your real performance.

Why is the exam taken on a computer?

AP Japanese is delivered on a computer because it tests typing in Japanese characters and recording spoken responses. The scoring still breaks into multiple choice and free response, which is what this calculator estimates.

Are the cut scores official?

No. Our thresholds are reasonable estimates from past exams. The College Board sets the official cut scores each year, so use the result as a planning tool.
