When do AP scores come out? In July 2027.
AP scores for the May 2027 exams come out in July 2027. College Board hasn’t posted the exact release date yet. In 2026, scores were available starting Monday, July 6, and in each of the last five years the day fell between July 5 and July 8. While you wait: What is the AP curve, and how does it turn raw points into your score?
When do AP scores come out in 2027?
College Board has published the 2027 exam dates and both June deadlines; the release day itself isn’t posted yet. For each subject’s exam slot, see the dates for AP exams. How long is an AP exam? It depends on the subject, and our guide lists every one.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| May 3–7 and May 10–14, 2027 | AP exams (two weeks) |
| May 17–21, 2027 | Late testing (makeup exams) |
| Tuesday, June 15, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ET | Last day to request a score cancellation |
| Sunday, June 20, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ET | Last day to choose the college that gets your free score send |
| July 2027Day not posted yet | AP scores released in your College Board account |
| By early July | The college on your free score send receives your scores |
| Posted in spring 2027 | Your school’s score reports, on College Board’s educator schedule (in 2026: the same day as students) |
Both June deadlines come before you see a single score, so you decide on them without knowing your results. A cancellation request has to reach College Board by Tuesday, June 15, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ET, or the score goes to any college you picked. That college has to be chosen by Sunday, June 20, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ET, to use your free score send.
College Board posts the day a couple of months ahead. In 2026, its AP calendar still said only “July” on April 24. Its page on viewing scores showed the day by April 28, and by May 10 the calendar read “available starting July 6.” If 2027 follows the same pattern, expect the day in late April or early May. Trust it over any date you see quoted elsewhere.
Past AP score release dates
From 2022 to 2026, College Board released AP scores between July 5 and July 8, in the first days after the Fourth of July. These are the days its own pages gave, year by year.
| Year | Scores available starting |
|---|---|
| 2026 | Monday, July 6 |
| 2025 | Monday, July 7 |
| 2024 | Monday, July 8 |
| 2023 | Wednesday, July 5 |
| 2022 | Tuesday, July 5 |
| 2021 | Wednesday, July 21 |
| 2020 | Wednesday, July 15 to Friday, July 17By location, 8 a.m. ET each day |
| 2019 | Friday, July 5 to Tuesday, July 9By location, 8 a.m. ET each day |
| 2018 | Thursday, July 5 to Monday, July 9By location, 8 a.m. ET each day |
The day moved with the calendar. It was a Monday three times, each time after a Fourth of July late in the week. In 2022 and 2023, when the holiday fell on a Monday or Tuesday, scores came the next day, July 5. That’s a pattern, and College Board hasn’t said the 2027 day will follow it.
The rows before 2022 look different. In 2021, scores came later, on Wednesday, July 21, and from 2018 to 2020 College Board opened them by location over several days. The next section explains that schedule.
What time do AP scores come out?
College Board’s current pages don’t give one. Since 2022, they have named a release day, with scores “available starting” that day, and nothing on when in the day they appear or in what order.
That wasn’t always so, and it’s where the 8 a.m. figure you’ll see quoted comes from. From 2018 to 2020, College Board opened scores by location over several days, each day at 8 a.m. Eastern Time, with students in Canada, U.S. territories and other countries on the last day. It said the schedule was there to “spread demand evenly.”
For 2021, its page first listed 7 a.m. ET, then dropped the time before release day, Wednesday, July 21. A set hour or a state-by-state rollout describes that older schedule, not the current one.
So in practice, sign in on the morning of release day, and if a score isn’t there, check again later that day. College Board warns that AP Services for Students answers more slowly than usual during score release in July, so if a score is missing, read the next section before you call.
Why a score might not be there on release day
Most scores are available in July, but College Board says some take longer. Its reasons are a later testing date, testing materials that arrived late, or extra time needed to match your records. A second College Board account can hold scores up as well.
If a score is missing, you don’t need to do anything at first. College Board emails you when it’s added to your score report. If you still have nothing by August 15, that’s the point to contact AP Services for Students. College Board gives that date as the time to get in touch; it doesn’t promise that every score will be there by then.
When colleges and your school see your scores
The college you choose for your free score send gets your scores without any extra step. Choose it by Sunday, June 20, 2027, and College Board says it should have your scores by early July. That official score report is what a college or university uses to decide on credit or placement.
You can order additional score reports online at any time for $15 each, and College Board says the college can download them within 24 hours. In 2026, reports ordered from June 23 to June 30 might not be ready to download until July 1.
To keep a score from a college, you can withhold it from that college for $10 per score, though not from your free score send, or cancel it for free. A cancellation is permanent.
Your school sees your scores too. Your AP teachers, your school and your district receive them automatically once they’re released. In 2026, school score reports opened on July 6, the same day as students’, with data files and award reports on July 10. College Board posts the 2027 schedule for schools in spring 2027. Your parents can’t see your scores unless you’ve shared your login with them.
Once you have your number, our AP scores explained guide covers the scale and how colleges use it.
How to see your AP scores
Sign in to your College Board account with its username and password, the same account you use for My AP, and open your score report. Make sure you can sign in well before July. If you’ve forgotten your password, recover the account you have instead of opening a new one, since a second account can delay your scores. For sign-in steps and fixes, see our AP score check guide.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers from College Board’s own pages.
Are AP scores out yet?
Not the 2027 scores. They come out in July 2027. The most recent scores, from the May 2026 exams, were available starting Monday, July 6, 2026.
Has the 2027 AP score release date been announced?
Not yet. Scores come out in July 2027, on a day College Board hasn’t announced. The day goes up on its AP pages; for 2026 it was there by April 28.
What time do AP scores come out?
College Board’s current pages don’t say. Through 2020 it opened scores at 8 a.m. Eastern Time; now it names only the day. Look in the morning, then again later if a score is missing.
Do AP scores come out at midnight?
No. College Board’s current pages give only the day, and when it did give times, they were 8 a.m. ET (2018–2020) and then 7 a.m. ET (2021), never midnight. Staying up late won’t get you an early look.
Does everyone get AP scores at the same time?
Yes, seniors included. College Board’s current pages give one release day for everyone, with no order for who sees scores first. Some scores do come later: exams taken on late-testing dates, or with materials or records that need extra processing.
Do all AP subjects come out on the same day?
Yes. College Board gives one release day for every AP Exam, whether it’s AP Biology, AP World History or AP Lang. In 2026, AP Exam scores for every subject were available starting Monday, July 6, 2026. A score arrives later only in individual cases, like late testing.
Why does my AP score say it’s not available?
It’s still being processed. College Board’s reasons include late testing, late-arriving materials and records that need matching. You’ll get an email when it’s added. If it’s still missing on August 15, AP Services for Students is who to ask.
When do colleges get my AP scores?
If you chose a college for your free score send by Sunday, June 20, 2027, it should receive your scores by early July. Reports you order later cost $15 each and are usually ready for the college within 24 hours.
How long after the AP test do scores come out?
About two months. The regular exams end May 14, late testing ends May 21, and scores come out in July. Multiple-choice sections are machine-scored, while free-response sections are scored by hand at the AP Reading in the first two weeks of June. Until then, our AP calculator can estimate your score from your raw points.
Can I get my AP score checked again?
Only the multiple-choice section, and only for the paper exams: French, German, Italian, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature and Music Theory. College Board rescores those by hand for $30 per exam if you ask by October 31. It doesn’t rescore free-response answers, but you can order copies of your free-response pages for $10 per exam by September 15, if College Board has released that exam’s questions.
